[He could lie, but that doesn't strike him as a particularly smart thing to do. But he does crack a smile -- because he considers Korra a friend, too.]
Still stings pretty bad, but it'll pass. I should probably invest in some kind of scarf.
[...Not that he really remembers what happened, exactly, but he can guess.
He sighs. Where does he even begin to ask questions...?]
[He'd seen what Korra could do with water... he hadn't had any idea about her healing capabilities. He slowly makes the attempt at sitting back up again, and is successful this time -- sounding relieved.]
Ha ha, that might actually work... I hope it's not one of your pretty shirts, though.
I can tell you now, none of my shirts are pretty. [Especially after fighting around in Haven. ] Besides, I don’t have anything really nice like Asami does.
[It occurs to him just then he's probably gonna have to have his suit repaired again... or he'll have get a new one. But he'll worry about that later, when moving doesn't feel like such a drain.]
Sure. Block 25.
[Second room -- but he'll have to open the main door for her anyway.]
[Raphael allows himself to nod off again for a little while, thinking about what Asami might look like. When he hears the faint knocking on the door, though, his eyes spring open again, and he rolls out of bed, trying not to fall on the floor in the process.
He takes the heavy steps to the main door of the block and opens it without question, seeing Korra as he expected.]
Just sit down on the couch or something. I'll get some water.
[He'd sounded pretty bad on the phone--and looks just as tired in person--so she wastes no time stepping into the communal bathroom to fill the bucket with water.]
Did you notice any serious wounds? I'll fix those first.
[Raphael answers with his voice slightly raised, unable to bring himself to object to water or couch time -- even if he is supposed to be the host here. He'd been tempted to follow her to the bathroom, but after watching her head in, he opts to sit as directed. It's right about then that he remembers that the water's for her healing, not drinking...
...How's this going to work, he wonders? He stares in the direction of the bathroom, releasing a quiet breath.
[Raphael eyes the water Korra returns with even as they speak, and he remembers the puddle surrounding Helios. What happened to him wasn't pleasant to watch, but now is probably the best time to break that association.]
Yeah. After we got all the orbs onto the pedestals, this guy called the Master showed up. Turns out the whole thing’s supposed to be a ritual to bring someone back from the dead. Someone drew on the statue, and people in the area got sucked in with them.
[Korra calls the water up and touches her hands to Raphael’s neck, where a soothing sensation begins to spread.]
There were other groups, too. We weren’t the only ones who got pulled in by accident.
[It makes him nervous at first. He feels so vulnerable...but the healing sensation is undeniable, so after a moment, his tension begin to ease. His breathing is slow, and the relief is obvious, even as he takes in what she's telling him.
He lies back, lifting his head, almost like an invitation for more.]
Other groups? [He closes his eyes, then. He can't believe this is working, it's almost hard to focus.] I... definitely didn't see anyone else.
They were in...other dimensions or something like that. [That had been what Hinata said, at least. She doesn't understand it completely, but she gets the idea.]
After Ty Lee and I put the orbs in, we saw two other people from other groups appear with us in front of the Master.
[He takes it in without responding for a moment. They must have appeared together in front of the Master, the same way their group just appeared together in the room with those statues.
It isn't a difficult leap to make, though he still doesn't want to believe it.]
Morgan and I... We found one at the end of one of those tunnels underground, when the garden first collapsed.
It was in some weird crate, and there was a note that talked about a revival project. It mentioned the whole being transported thing, the room full of statues and everything.
It...didn't say anything about any master, though. Just that it was all discontinued. [for obvious reasons]
You’re right! Zee and I saw it when we were looking through the tunnels. I remember sensing something really off about it, so we just put it right back into the crate.
[Raphael watches her face light up. There's always something endearing about that. He gives a quiet nod, though, a tired smile appearing on his face (again).]
Yeah. Morgan didn't want to stick around, either.
I don't even think we took it out of the crate in the first place. Maybe she sensed something, too.
[He admittedly hadn't really thought about that. Others would be stumbling onto that crate every day, if they were like him and wanted to open the door badly enough.
...Someone ought to move it.]
Right. Definitely... don't want to go through anything like that again.
[Though he would at least know what he was up against the second time...]
I'd question whether or not they'd believe us, but since we're talking Haven of all places, I don't think that'll be a problem.
voice;
[Especially in Haven, where you look out for people who would watch your back.]
Are you still hurt?
voice;
Still stings pretty bad, but it'll pass. I should probably invest in some kind of scarf.
[...Not that he really remembers what happened, exactly, but he can guess.
He sighs. Where does he even begin to ask questions...?]
voice;
I can bring some extra cloth for you while I'm at it. You'll...have to cut up the shirt to make a scarf, but it's better than nothing.
voice;
[He'd seen what Korra could do with water... he hadn't had any idea about her healing capabilities. He slowly makes the attempt at sitting back up again, and is successful this time -- sounding relieved.]
Ha ha, that might actually work... I hope it's not one of your pretty shirts, though.
voice;
Should I come over right now?
voice;
Sure. Block 25.
[Second room -- but he'll have to open the main door for her anyway.]
...Who's Asami?
voice; --> action
Anyway, I'll be right there.
[Just a little while later, Korra will be knocking at the door.]
It's me.

Hey. Come on in.

And he can still see that monster's claws...]
Ugh. That thing was no joke.

None of it was. The statues, the thing that attacked you...all of it was just horrible.

What about the orbs? We were right, weren't we?

Shit.]
But now that you mention it, I know what statue you're talking about. It's gotta be...

[She looks startled.]
Wait--you do?

Guess it was the right thing to do.

Yeah. Morgan didn't want to stick around, either.
I don't even think we took it out of the crate in the first place. Maybe she sensed something, too.
[It certainly seemed that way.]

[Anything that triggers a ritual like that deserves to feel creepy.]
I guess...the only thing we can do now is try to make sure other people won't make the same mistake.

I tried burning the thing, but there must be something keeping it safe from damage.
no subject
[He'll just say what he was thinking a second ago, then...]
What about moving it?
no subject
[Korra sighs.]
Like Haven wasn't creepy enough without that thing hanging around.
no subject
We could write some kind of warning, I guess. Slap it right on top of that label.
I mean, you guys should probably say something over the phones too, but I'm betting some people will miss it.
[Considering some people he met hadn't even known what a phone was...]
